Barton College received estate gifts totaling nearly $800,000 from alumni Irene W. Lucas and Ann C. Baker, funding scholarships for students in financial need and those in the School of Education. Lucas, a lifelong educator, and Baker, a devoted teacher, both exemplified commitment to supporting future generations. Their legacies continue through endowed scholarships.
Barton College prepares for its 2022 Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 28-29, offering events like the Alumni Association Golf Tournament, Bulldog Bash with live music at the Whirligig Park, and Saturday activities including the Torchbearers Induction Ceremony, tailgating, a football game, and the Homecoming Dance.
Barton College’s women’s basketball coach Wendee Saintsing has been honored with an endowed scholarship in her name, funded by Thomas W. Graves, Jr. This scholarship will support financially needy and eligible team members. Saintsing, with an impressive record over her 35-year career including nine NCAA Division II Tournaments, values impacting players’ lives beyond the court.
Romey McCoy ’80 establishes the Romey L. McCoy Endowed Scholarship for business administration majors with an accounting minor at Barton College. Reflecting his parents’ values of education and his own career, McCoy’s legacy will support Barton students.
