Sheila Milne (’90) and Susan Myers’ (’87) love story began at Barton College over 38 years ago, starting with a deep friendship and shared experiences, and evolving into a lifelong partnership. Now living close to their alma mater, they reflect on their journey from collegiate athletes to proud parents, cherishing the supportive community that’s been with them every step of the way.

Jay (’94) and Jenna Viscuse Hinton (’95) have left a bequest in their wills to their alma mater as a gesture of gratitude for its significant role in shaping their careers and friendships. Both successful professionals, they are active supporters and engage with the campus community, encouraging other alumni to contribute to the college’s legacy.
Barton College welcomes Katie Thomason as the new Director of Development and Alumni Engagement. With a background in higher education outreach and a passion for building connections with alumni, Katie intends to amplify alumni relations and fundraising efforts. Her plans include enhancing initiatives like Giving Day and further developing the annual fund. Katie is eager to integrate into the Barton family, valuing the impact alumni have on current students’ perception of a Barton education.
Howard (’72) and Dina Tang have donated to Barton College to support its international students and programs. Their significant gift will enhance educational and cultural experiences, provide emergency funding, and cover travel costs. The Tangs, both alumni, emphasize global perspective and have previously established a scholarship for Southeast Asian students with financial needs.
Barton College received estate gifts totaling nearly $800,000 from alumni Irene W. Lucas and Ann C. Baker, funding scholarships for students in financial need and those in the School of Education. Lucas, a lifelong educator, and Baker, a devoted teacher, both exemplified commitment to supporting future generations. Their legacies continue through endowed scholarships.
