Maddie Adkins ’21

Maddie Adkins, Class of 2021, graduated from Methodist University on August 16, 2024 with her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy.

“I came to Barton College as a freshman in 2017. I played on the women’s soccer team as a walk-on. I received a degree in exercise science after graduating in 2021. I made many precious memories at Barton with teammates and classmates who have become lifelong friends, acquaintances, and connections. I chose Barton because of how small it was compared to larger schools that have larger student to professor ratios. I was able to get to know the professors on a deeper personal level and felt more connected with them throughout coursework. I’m thankful for my time at Barton College.
After COVID, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. Though, life went on and I got accepted into the Doctorate of Occupational Therapy program at Methodist University. Glory to God and thanks to Barton College for preparing me for graduate school. I just graduated with a doctorate in occupational therapy on August 16th and I’m ready for the work force!

I have an OT Instagram called “maddietalksOT”. It’s a page for pre-OT students, current OT students, and practicing OT clinicians. I post information and educational content concerning OT and I talk about my experiences throughout undergraduate and graduate school.
